${DynamicText("About this genre (loading...)")}

The earliest source for this genre is Puzzle Communication Nikoli 62 (1996), under name 八方リンク, invented by となりのトロロ.

Later, in 2010, Jak Marshall [independently re-invented|http://103percent.blogspot.com/2010_09_26_archive.html] this genre, and named it Linesweeper, a name that caught on.

##Acknowledgements and Changes
**2024-05-29** [linesweeper] released, both as genre and [variant|kudamono/variants].
**2024-05-29** Thanks to @monokurogreen for noticing that the ruleset is exactly the same as モノクログリーン (1996). Authorship has thus been revised.
**2024-05-29** @PinkHoodie sent a ´´kiki´´ [linesweeper] for the rollout. Thank you!
**2024-06-03** Thanks to @direkrow and @justkirb for noticing a non-uniqueness in the hex puzzle, which was thus reformulated
