Grandstands
This genre is an iteration of Canal-view-like-loop. The first published instance of that ruleset is by Chiel Beenhakker (bakpao) in 2022, as as part of commemorative loop mashup puzzle, and also, standalone on the hex grid, for a speedsetting competition.
The full
constraint was not used as part of the mashup but was there in the standalone puzzle, so it is unclear whether it was part of the Canal-view-like-loop. If not, then both genres would be identical.
Possibly in 2021, Eric Fox made a one-off puzzle to demonstrate that ruleset, but it has been lost…
The earliest reference found so far a pair is of unpublished puzzles in 2019 by Anurag Sahay using that ruleset, including the full
constraint, but under another (new) genre name. It was inspired by Norihiko Fujimaki's ウォールロジック (Wall logic), also known as Walls ( Naoki Inaba) and more commonly Four Winds - by conversion into a loop genre. This same route was followed by PinkHoodie more recently. Puzzles from both authors are transcribed below, alongside new ones.
