The name [double or nothing] seemingly appeared at WPF Puzzle GP 2022 - Round 5, in a puzzle by Zoltán Horváth. 
The ruleset was likely re-invented unaware of @NaokiInaba's [double block|http://inabapuzzle.com/honkaku/dblock.pdf]. The former name was not kept since it would be confounded with doppelblock.
